EMDR

WHAT IS EMDR?

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy encourages patients to focus on their trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (i.e. eye movements). We can associate this with a reduction in vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. First developed in the late 1980's to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), EMDR is now utilized by over 20,000 trained clinicians worldwide to treat other concerns.
